Providing our dogs with proper mental stimulation, also known as Canine enrichment, is so, so crucial during these quarantine periods.
Corona is a human disease and should preferably only affect the welfare of humans. Our dogs don’t understand why they are suddenly not allowed their normal amount of walks or play sessions in the park.
It is our job, as dog owners, to help them still feel good. Their welfare is now at stake at too, even though it shouldn’t be.
Canine enrichment is the answer!
You can do mental stimulation inside, so you don’t need to be able to go outside. Over the next few weeks we will be sharing some cool tips on how you can mentally stimulate your dog with Canine enrichment games at home, without taking a single step outside!
This game has treats for your dog AND you! How cool is that?
All you need is an empty Pringles tube or can, a Scissor, and some dog treats.
Cut some holes in the tube that treats would be able to fall out of. Just make sure the holes are big enough for the treats, but also not too big! We don’t want this to be too easy for the dogs!
Now fill the tube with some treats. Usually, the fewer treats are in the tube, the more difficult the exercise is for the dog. Put the lid on, and give the tube to the dog.
Just remember, this should not be given to the dog without supervision!
